Especially now with the "new" ways in which we have been forced to provide opportunities for church, many church leaders may be unaware of the importance of having effective and up-to-date position descriptions for leadership teams. It is of utmost importance that the church, just like any successful business or other entity, is aware of the responsibilities, skills, abilities, gifts, and temperaments required for every position on their staff. Development of this project began many years ago, and has culminated in the most-comprehensive catalog available of complete position descriptions for positions at churches and related ministry organizations.
More than 1100 position descriptions have been developed for this project; less than 190 have been included in this volume due to physical space and practical constraints. You may use these descriptions as a basis for adapting the appropriate information and requirements for the necessities of your particular organization. Guidelines are provided to assist your leaders in developing, writing, maintaining, and utilizing position descriptions that allow your organization to maintain effective staff and volunteers, and to be prepared for a future in which there are inevitable transitions in the ministry staff.
